Getting started
Do I need an appointment to buy Bitcoin?
No, just walk in. Both stores welcome walk-ins during business hours. Appointments are only needed for OTC desk trades and VIP concierge service.
What do I need to bring?
A government-issued photo ID and a Bitcoin wallet. No wallet yet? We’ll set one up with you in store, and we stock hardware wallets if you want your coins offline.

How long does a trade take?
Most walk-in trades are done in under 15 minutes, including ID verification and watching the coins arrive in your wallet.
Payments & limits
How much cash can I trade?
Walk-in cash trades up to $50,000 per customer per day. Above that, our bank-wire and OTC desk handle five- and six-figure settlements the same day.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash for walk-in trades, and bank wire for larger settlements through the trading desk. Every rate is locked before any money moves.
Do you buy crypto as well?
Yes. You can sell BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE and other major coins for cash or bank wire at either location.
Can my business trade with you?
Yes. Our OTC desk works with businesses and high-volume traders. Book a desk appointment and we’ll walk you through what your business needs to get set up.
Fees & rates
What are your fees?
The rate we quote is the rate you pay. The price is locked before you hand over payment. No hidden fees, no surprises.
How is your rate set?
Quotes are based on the live market rate at the moment you trade, the same prices you see on our Live Market page. You approve the quote before anything moves.
What if the price moves during my trade?
It doesn’t matter: your rate is locked the moment you approve the quote. What you agreed to is what you get, even if the market jumps while you’re at the counter.
Security & compliance
Is The Bitcoin Store licensed?
Yes. We are a FinCEN-registered Money Services Business operating under California compliance requirements, and every trade is ID-verified.
Why do you need my ID?
As a registered Money Services Business we’re required to verify identity on every transaction. It protects you too: every trade has a real record with a real business.
Do you hold my crypto?
Never. Coins go straight to a wallet only you control. We’re a store, not an exchange account, so there’s nothing of yours for us to hold.
How fast do I receive my Bitcoin?
Before you leave. Once your payment is confirmed, we send the coins straight to your wallet and you watch them arrive at the counter.

What are your hours?
Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am – 7:00 pm; closed Sunday and Monday. The San Jose store is newly opened, so call ahead to confirm hours.

Do you offer service outside the stores?
For qualifying trades, yes: our courier service comes to your home or office with the same ID verification and locked rate as in store. See Courier Service.
